A young Manaloto
Mr. Sonny Manaloto began his karate journey at the tender age of six. Inspired by a National Karate demonstration during aCris and Manaloto 4th of July parade, he broke his first board and was instantly hooked. By age ten, he had already embarked on Leadership and Instructor training, showing an early commitment to the art.

In 2014, Mr. Manaloto achieved his First Degree Black Belt, marking the start of a series of significant milestones. Now a 4th Degree Black Belt, he has spent nine years teaching martial arts, sharing his knowledge and passion with students of all ages.


Competitive Spirit and Accomplishments


Beyond teaching, Mr. Manaloto is an accomplished sport karate competitor. He regularly competes in some of America’s most competitive tournaments, such as the Diamond Nationals in Minnesota, the Infinity National Championships in Wisconsin, and the Warrior Cup National Tournament in Chicago, IL. Among his many victories, one of his favorites is winning 1st Place in Forms at the Diamond Nationals, a testament to his skill and dedication.

Question: What made you start karate?
Answer: “I saw National Karate in a 4th of July parade and was able to break a board. It was the greatest thing I’d ever done, and I signed up the week after.”

Question: What has earning a Black Belt meant to you?
Answer: “Earning a Black Belt was a way for me to prove that I could do anything I set my mind to. Each black belt test I’ve been a part of was a way for me to say, ‘I can do this,’ and the feeling of joy and happiness when the belt was finally tied around my waist is indescribable.”

Question: How has National Karate impacted your life?National Karate Instructors
Answer: “National Karate has always been a second home for me. I spent most of my time at the school training, teaching, and making friends. It opened up a whole new world for me.”

Question: What do you like about teaching martial arts?
Answer: “I love building connections with people, making them smile, and helping them grow. Sharing the joy of learning martial arts with others is incredibly rewarding.”

Question: National Karate produces the largest and most prestigious tournament in North America called the Diamond Nationals. What is your favorite memory from the Diamond Nationals?
Answer: “My favorite memory is from the 2023 Diamond Nationals. The ring was surrounded by National Karate parents, students, and staff. The support was surreal, and the cheers were so loud that I couldn’t hear anything else. It’s a memory I’ll never forget.”
