Starting his karate journey as a teenager, Tony Roller found a home at National Karate. Like many young enthusiasts, he experienced the transformative effects of martial arts, gaining confidence and discipline that would shape his character. Under the guidance of Master Cristian Nelson (8th Degree Black Belt), Roller excelled in both fighting and form, competing in tournaments and earning his Black Belt in 2010.
Instructor Training and Leadership Development:
Recognizing Roller’s natural aptitude for teaching, he enrolled in National Karate’s Instructor training program during his teenage years. Progressing from Trainee Instructor to Assistant Instructor and ultimately to a full Instructor, he became an integral part of the South Elgin National Karate school. Roller’s passion for teaching led to his promotion to Head Instructor at the Elk Grove / Roselle National Karate school, showcasing his ability to develop excellent martial artists.
Education and Marriage:

Driven by a desire to further enhance his teaching skills, Roller pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 2018. His dedication to personal growth extended beyond the martial arts as he married Danielle, a 1st Degree Black Belt. Roller’s commitment to education and family values became integral aspects of his identity.
Military Service in the Army:

Yearning for new challenges, Roller enlisted in the Army after completing his education. Drawing parallels between the mental and physical challenges of martial arts training and military service, he underwent Advanced Individual Training for Military Police, achieving the rank of Specialist and serving in Germany. Roller’s service to the country is commendable, and his dedication to pushing personal boundaries reflects the values instilled during his martial arts journey.
Return to National Karate: Full Circle
After his military service, Roller returned to his roots at National Karate to pursue his passion in teaching and making a positive impact on the lives of others. He is a 3rd Degree Black Belt and a Certified Krav Maga Instructor. In September 2023, he was promoted to the Director position at the Bartlett School, showcasing his ability to manage various aspects of a successful learning program.
